Decorating With Elegant and Formal Living Room Furniture
Elegant and formal living roomfurniture might remind you of your dream house even if you are just living in a condo. These kinds of rooms are perfect for company and conversation but they can also still work for your everyday life. It's important to balance these two aspects so that they can be used on a daily basis and to help maximize your square footage. Here are a few tips for picking out this kind of furniture and making the most of your existing pieces.
It's important to know exactly what makes the piece look expensive. This doesn't mean that you have to spend a lot of money. You might even be able to find this kind of furniture in the classified ads or at garage sale. You want to look for very intricate details. These include any gold leafing accents as well as a wood carvings.
Another aspect that will make your typical living roomfurniture look more formal is an elegant fabric. You can even make cotton look sophisticated as long as it's a very rich and deep chocolate brown. You want to choose a sofa that will work for your everyday life and then just dress it up with throw pillows and trim work. Trim is another classic hallmark of this design style. You might be able to find nail head details as well as tassel work if you want a Tuscan or traditional vibe.
Wingback chairs are very formal and elegant feeling. It will really make your room fill more traditional than just a basic recliner. It will give your space more of a library feeling to it. This is the kind of style you really want to be careful with so your TV doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. If you have a flat screen put an intricate console underneath it. You can also turn it into artwork with an ornate gold frame around it. For formal living roomfurniture you really want to focus in on making everything match and having a cohesive design. This is one of the few opportunities to update and buy an entire living room set without it looking cheesy.
Another aspect of formal living roomfurniture are wood tones. The wood tones should be dark and rich such as mahogany, cherry, or walnut. This will make your room instantly feel richer and more elegant. Plus, this is a pretty traditional design so you can add in new pieces over time to complete the set.

6 Ideas For Painting Your Living Room
1. First and foremost, you need to choose the color scheme to be used in your living room. This means that you have to choose the paint colors for your doors, walls, accessories, trims, and other accents.

2. Base your color scheme on the living room's largest furniture, the room's focal point, height of your ceiling, the lighting, how the room is to be used, the room's size, and the feeling that you want to create whenever you're inside the living room.
3. After that, it's now time to focus in choosing the paint finish because this can alter the feeling that you want to create. If your walls have minor imperfections, choose a paint finish that's matte or flat because it doesn't shine. This kind of finish also offers effective stain resistance.
4. For your doors, trims, and other architectural details, highlight them with a gloss finish by using semi-gloss or satin finish. It would be easier to clean these areas because of the texture's smoothness and the wall's sheen.
5. For the walls of your living room, you can use paints which are water-based or latex, but for your windows and doors, use acrylic paint.
6. Some color and types of paint require more that one coat application, so you should take that into account. One gallon of paint usually covers about 400 sq feet.
With a little creativity and hard work, you can turn your living room in to a masterpiece of your own creation. Your guests will be awed once they visit your house and see your living room.

Large HO Basement Model Railroad Layout
Norman Stenzel's HO layout is located in Atlanta GA. The layout fills a 2000 square foot basement and is based on a fictional railroad, the Brandywine & Benedictine. More info on layout can be found here: www.piedmont-div.org Brief Overview: The Brandywine & Benedictine Railroad is a Class 1 Appalachian coal hauler modeled in 1953. It runs north and south from Winston Salem, NC to Pittsburgh, PA. Motive power is a 50/50 mix of steam and first generation diesel power. The railroad is designed with prototype operations in mind with jobs to keep 12 to 16 people busy. The B&B is controlled using Digitrax DCC and a computer running RR&CO software. Layout owner is Norman Stenzel. This layout is located in Atlanta GA. My visit: I and 5 members of the Orlando N-trak club (from Orlando FL) were invited to run on this layout during the Dixie Rail 2010 ops session held October 1 - 3. We visited this layout on Saturday Oct 2nd. Extra Note: At 03:13 The crossing gates sounds are actually coming from the model. The passing train steam audio and freight car audio was dubbed from recordings I made at Cass WV and from a NS freight in Atlanta GA. Extra Note 2: The crossing gates on the layout can be activiated or deactivated by the push button or by sensing the approaching train. All footage recorded by Jared Davis (C) of Whistlepost Productions.
